Helictotrichon sempervirens (Blue Oat Grass) shines in the garden with its bright blue foliage and tall graceful late spring flowering spikes that age to tawny brown by mid-summer. It thrives in full, hot sun but should not be grown too dry in arid climates. Drought resistant/drought tolerant plant (xeric).
Description
48″ tall x 24″ wide (division propagated). This plant is the frosting on the cake for any garden, pleasing us by adding texture and color over the entire growing season. The stiff gray-blue leaves are very striking. They provide the foundation for the ornamental 4′ tall flower spikes that shoot up and ripen to a soft brown by midsummer. Cut back in April to encourage vigorous new growth.
Flat of 9 plants will cover 18 square feet when planted together
