It is also lovely in a container and can bring early color to a patio or entry. Plant them with crocus, Muscari, daffodils, and other early spring bulbs for a beautiful display. Trim back plants when flowering has finished to encourage thick growth. Native to the Mediterranean region, it is a cold-hardy plant that is a low-maintenance solution for xeric spring color. Hardy in zones 6-9, its foliage is evergreen.
